Central banks around the world are increasingly considering issuing their own digital currencies to the public, called central bank digital currencies (CBDC). However, although many jurisdictions are evaluating the adoption of CBDCs, only a few have issued regulations regarding CBDCs or conducted pilot projects.
In this context, this document analyzes a group of 6 advanced CBDC projects, with the motivation of identifying and sharing lessons learned, as well as posing open questions that may inspire further research and allow countries considering initiating these processes to take advantage of the experiences of others.
