How to accelerate green innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean and where to start?

Green innovation is still incipient in Latin America and the Caribbean. This document presents the concept of green innovation, its potential and relationship to climate change, and some data on the diffusion of green innovation in the region. Green innovation includes the creation and commercialization of new technologies that are more environmentally benign, as well as the diffusion and adoption of greener technologies. Despite its great potential in fostering a new model where economic growth and employment generation are compatible with the sustainability of the natural system, several factors, both internal and external to companies, have limited its diffusion in the region's business fabric. Therefore, the document concludes with some guidelines for the design of policy instruments to promote green innovation in the region. (Text in Spanish)
